Who works at Bethlehem Lutheran School and Church?

We will be touring the building and interviewing the different people who work here as we move into completing our first trimester social studies standards.  Our class is learning about the community around us, their jobs and how they contribute to our well being.  We are adding to a map of our building and using pictures to identify each worker.  Yesterday we learned about the school and church secretaries.
In reading this week we finished up letter Ee and now are taking time to review letter sounds Aa-Ee.  We will take our first phonics/writing quiz on those letters soon.  It' a great time to be reviewing those letters and sounds with your child at home.
In math we will continue learning to count and write numbers 0-5 and also begin ordering and comparing numbers.  This is an intense time for handwriting practice for both numbers and letters.  Please help your child practice good letters and numbers when they have homework.
In the Bible we are finishing the Creation story and taking time to be thankful for all God has made.
Today we had a fine time in the library picking out new books and also working on writing skills on the iPads.
At story time today we heard a funny tale about friendship between foods.  The class described how  characters reacted to story events.  We also practiced our own reading skills by reviewing our third 'I Can Read Reader' and highlighting the sight word 'the'.  Thank you for all the help you give your child at home in reading and writing practice, it truly takes a community to encourage learning.

Have a fine afternoon,

Mrs. Luoma
