A Cold but, Happy Start

Whoa...it's crazy cold outside, but we're warm and happy to be back at school together.  We had a late start this morning and eased our way back into learning with a fun and active day.  Pastor Andy helped us understand what mercy means in chapel this morning.  The message fit it perfectly with our new table team character word of 'patience'.  We're in a new seating arrangement now and teams will work on earning points for following directions and showing patience to one another.
After lunch we updated our calendar and learned about the new year.  Now we will be adding the date to the tops of our school work each day.  In reading we reviewed some letters and sounds and then worked on a phonics review where we identified the beginning, middle and ending sounds in words.  In learning centers we practiced sight words, counting in ten frames, reading and writing words and we made snowflakes for our January wall.
We're all happy to be learning together again.  School is the best place to be on a cold, winter day.

Cozy Blessings,

Mrs. Luoma
