Using a fingerspace!

In Kindergarten we learn about sentence structure and how important spacing is for us to understand words.  Sounds easy, but it isn't.  We had our first finger space lesson today and it was a good beginning.  Now the challenge is to encourage students to use proper spacing as they write words.
In chapel this morning we heard a good message from Mr. Blank about what being poor in spirit means.
We practiced writing 4's and 5's in math and tackled the strategy of drawing a picture to help solve a problem.
After lunch we heard a story about a hermit crab and learned many new fact about that animal.  We practiced letter sounds and writing.
The class enjoyed a little friendly competition among table with remembering their classmates names with the 'name game'.
We ended our day today in learning centers where we counted, made letters and numbers from play doh, and reviewed our take-home reader.
I gave out a lot of jewels today.  Some students got a special reward for showing progress in their effort and focus, some for working together well as a table group.  I was a solid day of learning and fun.

Blessings on your day,

Mrs. Luoma
