Being an example to younger students

Today we had both the morning and afternoon pre-K classes come to spend a little time with us and find out more about what Kindergarten will be like next year.  Our class did a fine job being the 'big kids' and helping the younger children feel comfortable in a new situation.  This school is full of great examples and it's a joy to see that our class is seeing themselves as important teachers to younger students.
We discussed a devotion this morning about how God gives us what we need each day.  In reading we added two more sight words and practiced reading in our new books. We counted change in math, using pennies, nickels and dimes.  The class was delighted to find our library mice had written a book and dedicated it to the class. We identified the problem and solution from a second book about the life of mice.  In science we reviewed severe weather vocabulary and discussed severe weather in our region.  We saw a video about how to stay safe in a lightning storm.  Talk about it at home!  In technology labs we are focusing on keyboarding skills.
Everyone put in a good day of learning in Kindergarten.
