Decomposing numbers

We learned that decomposing numbers is like addition in the reverse.  We practiced decomposing numbers into two separate groups several ways today: with blocks, dots and by gluing squares into groups.  This week we will deepen our understanding of how to decompose a number as we prepare for our unit on subtraction.
In chapel Mr. Haynes taught us about humility and showed us many baseball clips to illustrate this character quality.  We caught up with our writing after chapel.  In the afternoon, we heard a funny circular story about monsters having babies and the class identified details from the pictures.  Our class moved to the sanctuary to practice our chapel play.  After Spanish and recess we played to learn on iPads, writing math sentences, gluing and building.

Each day we are ending with singing the Doxology as our closing prayer...it sounds beautiful.  Have your child sing it to you!
