Back together again

It was a joy to our hearts to be back together again with our class.  And it was especially exciting to welcome a new student, Gavin!
We began learning about how Jesus went and taught at the temple in Jerusalem as a boy at Bible time.  The class heard a funny story about New Year's Day and recalled details from the text.  In math we updated the calendar and learned how to write the date on our papers each day.  We had many 'teeth' to add to our tooth loss graph.  Then we concentrated on counting to and writing the numbers 16 and 17. We reviewed the names and sounds of several letters and then took a quick phonics quiz on the letters M, S, R and T.  The class began writing journals today and we will write in them frequently for the rest of the year.  It was exciting to begin a new science unit on our five senses.  The class made predictions about interesting photos that relate to our senses.  Our day ended in learning-play with learning centers on building, sculpting, writing words and playing literacy games on the iPads.  It was a good and full day; we're all a little tired so get to bed early tonight!

We love these kids,

Mrs. Luoma
